Roasted Chicken in Air Fryer: Comparing Philips and Cosori Air Fryers

Hello everyone! In today's video, I'll be making roasted chicken in an air fryer and sharing my simple recipe. At the same time, I will experiment and compare two air fryer brands: Cosori and Philips. Philips has a unique feature in their basket with their Twin TurboStar technology, while Cosori has a more traditional basket design. I'm curious to see if there's a significant difference between the two.

Preparing the Chicken

Let's start by preparing the chicken. The ingredients for the coating are simple and likely already in your kitchen. Although the lemongrass is optional, I love adding it for its aroma and flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 6 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Half a lemon, juiced

In a bowl, combine the melted butter and minced garlic. I prefer using a garlic press to extract more flavor and aroma. Mix in the salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. The exact amounts depend on your preference, but be careful not to add too much salt.

Preparing the Chicken:

  1. Pat the chicken dry with a kitchen towel.
  2. Loosen the skin using a spoon.
  3. Drizzle and rub most of the butter mixture under the skin for maximum flavor.
  4. Stuff the cavity with lemongrass and lemon wedges.

Comparing Air Fryers: Philips vs. Cosori

Before cooking, let's look at the differences between the Philips and Kori air fryers:

  • Philips: The basket has detachable parts, including the handle and the bottom of the inner basket for thorough cleaning. The outer basket features the Twin TurboStar technology, which is said to generate hot air quickly for even heat distribution.
  • Kori: The basket has a simpler design with a non-detachable handle and bottom. This design is common in many air fryers.

Additional Differences:

  • Philips: Smaller LCD screen with four presets.
  • Kori: Larger touchscreen LCD with eleven presets.

We'll cook the roasted chicken manually without using the presets.

Cooking the Chicken:

  1. Preheat both air fryers to 180°C (Philips) and 182°C (Kori) for 3 minutes.
  2. Place the chicken in the baskets and cook for 20 minutes.
  3. Flip the chicken and cook for another 10 minutes.

Results and Comparison:

  • Philips: The chicken looks evenly cooked with a soft and tender texture.
  • Kori: The chicken appears juicier with more drippings and a glistening finish.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the outcome. While the Philips' Twin TurboStar technology is impressive, both air fryers produced well-cooked roasted chicken. However, the Kori air fryer delivered a juicier result, making it my preference.

I hope this comparison helps you in choosing the right air fryer. If you're interested in the Kori air fryer and you're in the US, check out the discount code in the description box.
