How to Make Banana Chips in the Power Air Fryer Oven
Welcome to my second article about the Power Air Fryer Oven! In my first video, I cooked some bacon, and today, I'm excited to show you how to make banana chips. This is a simple and healthy snack that you can easily prepare at home.
Ingredients:
- Ripe bananas (the riper, the better; slightly green bananas work best)
Instructions:
Slice the Bananas:
- Start by slicing your bananas into 1/4-inch thick pieces. This ensures they dry out evenly.
Arrange the Slices:
- Place the banana slices on the air fryer trays. Make sure to leave some space between each slice to allow proper air circulation.
Set Up the Air Fryer:
- Preheat your Power Air Fryer Oven to 170°F. I previously mentioned 175°F, but 170°F is ideal for this recipe.
- Place the trays in the oven, ensuring there is enough space between them for air to circulate.
- Set the timer for 8 hours.
Check and Rotate:
- At the 4-hour mark, check the banana slices. They should be starting to harden but will still be somewhat soft.
- Rotate the trays to ensure even drying, as the heat in the air fryer can be uneven.
Final Check:
- After 8 hours, your banana chips should be ready. They will have reduced in size and become much crispier. If they are still too soft for your liking, you can leave them in the air fryer for an additional 2-4 hours.
- For extra crispiness, allow the banana chips to cool down outside the air fryer. As they cool, they will continue to harden.
Tips:
- The drying button on the air fryer sets the temperature to 90°F, but manually setting it to 170°F gives better results for banana chips.
- If you notice uneven drying, feel free to switch the trays halfway through the drying process, just like you would when smoking meats.
Final Thoughts:
After 8 hours, the banana chips should be perfectly crispy and ready to enjoy. If you prefer them even crunchier, you can dry them for a bit longer, but be cautious not to overdo it, as they can become too hard.
